Medical Assistant
University of Arkansas SystemMedical Assistant assisting with patient examinations and treatments at UAMS. Conducting interviews, measuring vital signs, and managing appointments in a clinical setting.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- The MA will conduct patient interviews, measure vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients' Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- The MA will also draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Also prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- The MA may also perform administrative tasks by registering and scheduling patients for appointments, procedures, etc.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an accredited program.
- Ability to perform point-of-care testing, draw and collect blood specimens, and prepare for laboratory processing.
- A minimum of 1 year phlebotomy and MA experience
- Two years of experience in an ambulatory care setting
- BLS (CPR) Certification.
