About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provides technical support for Core users and faculty, maintains and operates the full spectrum of equipment utilized in the Core.
  • Builds experiments, processes, and analyzes samples, and troubleshoots for end users as needed.
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of technical procedures and provides solutions to problems.
  • Identifies areas of possible improvement and initiates changes as needed.
  • Monitors capital equipment and plans for upcoming budget years.
  • Performs cost analysis on current and new procedures and for procedure updates.
  • Works with the Core director on the development and implementation of new procedures.
  • Oversees ordering of supplies and inventory for the core.
  • Writes and revises technical standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all core processes and end users.
  • Provides onboarding and training to end users as needed on the operation of all Core equipment.
  • Maintains equipment housed in the Core lab, including renewal of service contracts and maintenance-related issues.
  • Oversees quality control and safety protocols.
  • Complies and provides data to designated leadership.
  • Responsible for the overall quality and safety of the lab.
  • Attends regular meetings as requested, including budget meetings, quality and safety meetings, leadership training sessions, and flow cytometry conference and classes as available.
  • Complete continuing education via webinars and online courses on flow cytometry, data analysis, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years of research experience required.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Have experience in designing and troubleshooting complex flow panels.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in routine Microsoft Office products.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of the equipment used in a research laboratory.
  • Ability to keep organized records and notes needed.
  • Taken an Immunology Course
  • Should be able to move 44 lbs.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree with 3 years of experience conducting flow cytometry experiments.
  • At least 5 years of experience of directly related work experience.
  • Operation of flow cytometry instruments.
  • Use of flow cytometry software, including analysis programs (ex. FlowJo).
