Assistant Manager, Food Services
University of Arkansas SystemAssistant Retail Manager overseeing Food & Nutrition Service operations at UAMS, including customer service, inventory, and staff management. Ensuring quality assurance and adherence to policies and procedures.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- The Assistant Retail Manager oversees operations of a Food & Nutrition Service retail area including, but not limited to, customer service, training, menu knowledge & development, food quality, inventory management, safety and sanitation, financial management, cash register system, cash handling, human resources and scheduling.
- Experience Quality Assurance: Physically on the floor in the Retail Outlet Service Area(s) during peak service times; Handling questions, concerns or complaints; Able to sufficiently train and supervise all personnel while following UAMS policies & procedures; menu knowledge including dietary restrictions; oversee food quality; maintains sanitation and safety of work environment
- Managing Employees and Retail Area: Works within financial margins for overtime and food cost; Conducting daily meetings with the staff to review menu and specials; Able to proficiently operate Point of Sale System; Fairly and consistently holding employees accountable to UAMS and Nutrition Services policies and procedures
- Administrative Responsibilities: Coaches and counsels employees; Maintains temperature logs; Menu Development; Schedules maintenance needs; Inventory management and daily food orders through Computrition; Application Review; Interviewing; Scheduling; Annual Requirements; Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher and P.O.S. System; Coordinates special events, activities and menus

Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
- 4 years of experience in institutional or commercial food service operations or specialized training in food service including 2-year supervisory experience
- Self-directed, flexible and innovative
- Strong communication skills used to inspire confidence in coworkers
- Good leadership and organizational skills
- Must be able to work during Inclement Weather
- Must be able to work rotating Weekends and Holidays
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in dietetics or a related field, SERV Safe Certified, Certified Dietary Manager
