About the role

  • The Regional Director of Financial Aid is the driving force behind the daily operations of Financial Aid (FA).
  • Reporting into the Vice President of Financial Aid, the Regional Director is responsible for overseeing policy interpretation, procedures, and regulatory guidance while managing a team of Financial Aid Officers and support staff.
  • The Regional Director is a subject matter expert in FA and accountable for key metrics and service level expectations related to student success and the financial health of student accounts.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies and goals focused on student retention and experience.
  • Lead impactful projects and identify opportunities for organizational improvement.
  • Ensure transparency and partnership across departments in all initiatives, particularly with quality assurance.
  • Partner with campus leadership and staff to ensure alignment on financial aid strategies.
  • Identify, hire, and retain top talent.
  • Ensure operational efficiency while providing mentorship, professional development, and coaching.
  • Identify training needs and create training programs to improve team members’ knowledge and efficiency within Financial Aid.
  • Oversee initial approval for VA benefits for all assigned campus locations, timely certification of all VA benefits, and School Certifying Official (SCO) annual training.
  • Train team on expected service-level agreements to ensure consistently high student satisfaction.
  • Handle escalated or high-need student cases, ensuring all interactions are documented properly.
  • Analyze team data and metrics to facilitate changes that meet organizational goals.
  • Utilize business intelligence analytics to maintain expected service-level agreements.
  • Create and maintain a culture of excellence and inclusivity through team activities, initiatives, and open communication.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of Title IV aid administration experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Financial Aid, including at least 4 years leading a team of Financial Aid professionals.
  • High degree of professionalism and discretion dealing with confidential information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to drive execution of tasks and change within an organization.
  • Ability to travel out-of-state up to 5 times per year.
  • Bachelors’ Degree from an accredited college or university.
