About the role
- The IT Business Analyst understands user needs and creates systems that improve operations and support the growth of Arizona College of Nursing (“College”)
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the College’s processes, the information/data required and generated, and the computer application functionality required to make those processes cost-effective and efficient
- Act as a liaison between users, including faculty, staff, and students, and technical resources by consulting with users to identify, define and document the College’s needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, and levels of systems access
- Define and document business functions and processes
- Identify opportunities for improving business processes through information systems and/or non-system driver changes; assist in the preparation of proposals to develop new systems and/or operational changes
- Analyze the feasibility of, and develop functional requirements for, new systems and enhancements to existing systems; ensure the system design fits the needs of the users; elicit, analyze & document students’ functional requirements
- Work directly with database administrators and software developers to transform conceptual system designs into system architecture and detailed specifications in accordance with current design standards
- Review conceptual system designs with all key stakeholders across the College and senior and executive leadership to ensure acceptance and consensus ensuring all user, student, and legal requirements are met
- Conduct technical and functional testing to ensure programming has been done in accordance with specifications
- Develop user documentation and assist in the development of training materials for new and existing applications
- Provide technical assistance in training, mentoring, and coaching all colleagues
- Maintain detailed knowledge of data, departments, and processes
- Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field or equivalent skills and experience required
- 5-10 or more years of related software development experience preferred
- 2+ years’ experience as a business or applications analyst or comparable experience required
- Be a technology advocate and helping to identify technical opportunities that will enhance the end-user experience
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization
- 2+ years in a role using SQL required
- Demonstrated experience with Scrum/Agile a plus
- Analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems
- To work well within a team and highly collaborative environment
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with non-technical and technical colleagues
- Organization and planning skills with the ability to manage priorities and commitments in a productive manner
