About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work directly with principal investigators on administrative functions related to sponsored grants, agreements, and award management
  • Advise on pre-award issues
  • Review, approve, and negotiate grants, contracts, and agreements on behalf of the institution
  • Review campus partner submissions before sponsor submission
  • Ensure proposal and award compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and terms and conditions, including 2 CFR § 200 Uniform Guidance
  • Assist the Office of Grants & Research with office activities and functions
  • Facilitate team formation, conceptualization, writing, and review of individual and collaborative grant proposals
  • Develop and conduct proposal development trainings, workshops, and web-based support materials
  • Research, identify, and disseminate information on internal, federal, state, and private funding sources
  • Assist with budget development and budget management, including oversight and consultation for sponsored and non-sponsored budgets
  • Coordinate proposal submissions for Continuing Education and Workforce Training
  • Assist with research, data collection methods, writing, editing, budget development, goals, objectives, outcomes, and supporting materials
  • Develop budget models, grant budgets, and budget justifications
  • Review, interpret, negotiate, and process extramural awards, subawards, proposals, and agreements
  • Coordinate with university offices and staff to promote policy compliance
  • Assist with post-award grant spending and review

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Individual and team-based problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Experience in proposal writing or relatable professional/technical writing
  • Editing and proofreading experience
  • Comfortable working with numbers
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, including formulas and spreadsheets
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite for grant budgeting and financial tracking
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in grant writing, administration, and/or budget development preferred
  • Familiarity with funding search resources and experience conducting funding searches preferred
  • Presentation skills preferred
  • Experience with private and corporate foundations preferred
  • Knowledge of contracting and/or federal research compliance regulations preferred
  • Experience in educational settings, preferably postsecondary, preferred
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and throughout employment
  • Successful completion of pre-employment education and criminal conviction investigations
