About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop profitable sales within an assigned territory with existing customers and by prospecting new accounts.
- Use a consultative selling approach and build long-term relationships with accounts.
- Strengthen Univar Solutions’ position within accounts through consultative selling.
- Prospect new customers, make sales calls, and expand the territory.
- Maintain a clear, up-to-date view of the sales pipeline and territory health.
- Increase territory size in line with Univar Solutions’ objectives.
- Retain customers and improve their satisfaction.
- Provide customer support and consulting services.
- Define pricing and service levels and coordinate customer quotes.
- Coordinate with local teams, including Purchasing and Operations, to ensure inventory and customer satisfaction.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders and customer contacts to ensure efficient service.
- Serve as the primary contact for international chemical distribution opportunities.
- Build customer relationships through sales calls and relevant interactions.
- Ensure accuracy and currency of data in SFDC.
- Demonstrate commitment to safety.
- Sell APIs, solvents, and excipients into the pharmaceutical industry in Quebec.
- Maintain customer relationships, manage the opportunity pipeline, set pricing and service levels, and coordinate with Purchasing and Operations.
- Support customer retention, satisfaction, consulting services, and international chemical distribution opportunities.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a sales role with a proven track record of success.
- Minimum 3+ years of sales experience in the Pharmaceutical Ingredients (raw chemicals) industry.
- Experience with APIs and excipients is valued.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, industrial, or chemical industry sales is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Technical Science or Chemistry preferred but not required.
- Experience with longer sales cycles or cyclical projects.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain an extensive network of contacts.
- Demonstrated experience as an effective leader and team player.
- Competitive, results-driven mindset.
- Bilingualism essential; fluent in both English and French.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Salesforce.com, and Tableau.
- Ability to manage time and resources effectively.
- Strong business acumen regarding manufacturers, distributors, and end-users of chemical products and services.
- Active listening and problem-solving skills to uncover needs, overcome objections, and close sales.
- Effective negotiation skills.
