About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure 100% grant financial compliance for United Way and funded subcontractors on federal, state, city, and private grants.
  • Develop effective systems for submitting and monitoring funding and reimbursement requests to grantors and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with the grant program managers on issues related to the grant.
  • Ensure that the financials, invoices, and reporting to internal and external stakeholders for grants are effective, efficient, and accurate.
  • Delegate to and oversee the work of any staff accountants assigned to work on grants.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in Accounting, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Minimum of two years experience with fiscal monitoring of grant contracts, preferably with state or federal grants or contracts
  • Knowledge of GAAP and Governmental Accounting Standards
  • Knowledge of Texas state and federal grant regulations, including Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards
  • An ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, problem solve and bring a high level of initiative and self-direction to work.
  • An ability to maintain regular and effective communication with colleagues and funders
  • Demonstrated experience with budget preparation, analysis, and financial reporting
  • Willingness to function as an internal “service provider” to other staff
