About the role

  • Maintain and administer Unison’s infrastructure (cloud and on-prem), including corporate, production, staging, and development environments.
  • Provide engineering expertise for system design, implementation, configuration, patching, backup, and recovery.
  • Collaborate with Security teams to ensure alignment with Federal and DoD compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, IL4/5).
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives for operational processes, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Serve as escalation point for technical issues impacting internal users and external customers.
  • Participate in rotating on-call responsibilities and respond to critical system outages (24/7 as needed).
  • Document system configurations, maintenance processes, and troubleshooting runbooks.
  • Work cross-functionally with software development, hosting, and customer success teams to support application deployment and environment stability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressively advanced Systems Administration or Engineering experience in a hybrid or cloud-hosted environment.
  • Experience with production operations of SaaS applications, supporting 24/7 availability and high-performance delivery.
  • Operating Systems & Platforms: Microsoft Windows Server 2019+ and Windows 11 Pro/Enterprise Linux administration (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu).
  • Experience with ELT/middleware (Talend, Informatica, Oracle Fusion).
  • Cloud & Virtualization: 5+ years’ managing public cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle Cloud (OCE).
  • Proficiency with VMWare vSphere/ESXi.
  • Familiarity with Cloud-native tools for monitoring, configuration management, and IaC are a plus (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible).
  • Networking & Security: Solid understanding of LAN/WAN, DNS, TCP/IP, VPNs, Active Directory, GPO; Knowledge of Zero Trust principles, firewall configuration, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (e.g., Cisco, Barracuda).
  • Storage & Backup: Working knowledge of SAN/NAS solutions (e.g., NetApp, EMC); Experience with backup platforms (e.g., Barracuda, Veeam).
  • Monitoring & Automation: Experience with systems monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Nagios, CloudWatch, Splunk, Datadog).
  • Scripting and automation skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python preferred.
  • Soft Skills & Qualifications: Proven troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities; strong written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail and documentation; self-starter with proactive problem-solving.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
