About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

You’ll own the architecture stack — enterprise, solution, technology and data — for UNIQA IT: defining the target state and the standards everyone builds against.
You’ll own Group IT Security end-to-end — all group-wide security services (including the outsourced SOC), and first-line security operations and incident response for Austria.
You’ll grow group-wide collaboration through Communities — the forum where UNIQA works across business units and hierarchies on key strategic initiatives.
You’ll set the IT rulebook and make it practical — policies, standards and key controls across the group, including AI governance: governance that demonstrably creates value, not governance that blocks.
You’ll ensure financial integrity, performance and compliance — making sure IT meets all internal, legal and regulatory requirements (including DORA, EU AI Act, GDPR, FMA) and provably delivers value.
You’ll provide independent outsourcing and third-party control — safeguarding the regulatory compliance of IT outsourcing and contracting in general, and of the captive, exclusive relationship with UNIQA IT Services GmbH in particular.
You’ll be part of the top leadership team of UNIQA IT — shaping direction together with the Head of Group Data & IT and the two Managing Directors of UNIQA IT Services.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Senior leadership experience in large, complex and ideally regulated organizations — with the credibility to operate as a peer at top-leadership level.
Deep knowledge of IT and security governance and regulation — DORA, GDPR, EU AI Act, ISO 27001/NIST — ideally with experience in financial services or insurance (FMA).
Proven ownership of enterprise, solution, technology and data architecture at scale.
Experience leading information security including security operations (SOC, incident response).
Experience managing outsourcing and third-party risk in a regulated, captive or shared-services context.
A credible, independent control line and the ability to say “no” when it matters — while remaining a genuine partner, not a blocker.
Ability to make governance practical, measurable and value-creating, and to lead from evidence and dialogue.
Comfortable across cultures and languages — fluent in German and English — calm under regulatory and security pressure and able to develop people and culture with care.
