About the role

  • Develop the "Factory of the Future" transformation methodology
  • Contribute to the development of a strategic and methodological framework for the SMIC Transformation Toolkit.
  • Assist in drafting sections describing the overall transformation approach and SME progression.
  • Support the design and prototype a comprehensive assessment tool for evaluating SMEs’ digital transformation maturity.
  • Support the creation of a structured approach and standardized template to guide SMEs in analysing their current performance.
  • Support the development of a detailed guide to support SME advisors in translating transformation plans into actionable steps.
  • Support the design a comprehensive training framework for SME advisors, including training modules.
  • Support the piloting of the Transformation Toolkit and Accelerator Programme.
  • Support feedback collection to refine the methodology and toolkit.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, Economics, Innovation/Technology Management, or another relevant discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in smart manufacturing, digital factory tools, industrial modernization, Industry 4.0 assessment and strategy, or innovation ecosystem development is required.
  • Proven experience in developing digital transformation methodologies or maturity models for SMEs is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of both technological and organizational transformation processes is required.
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills, with the ability to translate technical frameworks into practical SME tools is desirable.
  • Experience in environmental and sustainability aspects of advanced manufacturing is desirable.
  • Experience working with or advising manufacturing SMEs and business support organizations (e.g., innovation centres, clusters) is desirable.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Fluency and/or working knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
