About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Update the bookcover for the first volume of the MangRes graphic novel ‘Visiones del Manglar’, according to UNESCO Publications Guidelines.
  • Develop three chapters for the second volume of the MangRes graphic novel ‘Visiones del Manglar’. Format : A4, 20 pages maximum per chapter.
  • Create illustrations for the 2nd and 3rd chapters, ensuring alignment with the project's messaging and themes.
  • Depict Latin American and the Caribbean mangrove species, landscapes, and environments.
  • Ensure scientific accuracy and engage with educational and environmental awareness-raising goals.
  • Create the layout and integrate approved text into the final design.
  • Deliver the finalized illustrations for the 2nd and 3rd chapters for a final review, addressing all feedback from UNESCO.
  • Provide print-ready files and digital files for web (screen) to UNESCO.
  • Define a cohesive color palette, character design, and artistic technique suitable for the project.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Technical degree in Graphic design, Illustration, visual arts, animation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in illustration, graphic novel, comic production or visual storytelling.
  • Experience in illustration for the promotion and protection of biodiversity.
  • Demostrated experience delivering print ready files for professional publication.
  • Previous experience working with international organizations or UN agencies is desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency in digital illustration and design software including: adobe illustrator and adobe Photoshop.
  • Understanding of copyright, intellectual property rights and image licensing requeriments.
  • Abilty to collaborate effectivly with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to prepare high-resolution, print ready files in multiple formats.
