About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Update the bookcover for the first volume of the MangRes graphic novel ‘Visiones del Manglar’, according to UNESCO Publications Guidelines.
Develop three chapters for the second volume of the MangRes graphic novel ‘Visiones del Manglar’. Format : A4, 20 pages maximum per chapter.
Create illustrations for the 2nd and 3rd chapters, ensuring alignment with the project's messaging and themes.
Depict Latin American and the Caribbean mangrove species, landscapes, and environments.
Ensure scientific accuracy and engage with educational and environmental awareness-raising goals.
Create the layout and integrate approved text into the final design.
Deliver the finalized illustrations for the 2nd and 3rd chapters for a final review, addressing all feedback from UNESCO.
Provide print-ready files and digital files for web (screen) to UNESCO.
Define a cohesive color palette, character design, and artistic technique suitable for the project.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Technical degree in Graphic design, Illustration, visual arts, animation, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in illustration, graphic novel, comic production or visual storytelling.
Experience in illustration for the promotion and protection of biodiversity.
Demostrated experience delivering print ready files for professional publication.
Previous experience working with international organizations or UN agencies is desirable.
Advanced proficiency in digital illustration and design software including: adobe illustrator and adobe Photoshop.
Understanding of copyright, intellectual property rights and image licensing requeriments.
Abilty to collaborate effectivly with multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to prepare high-resolution, print ready files in multiple formats.
