About the role
- Develop seasonal color narratives rooted in brand direction, athlete insights, culture, and trend research.
- Build cohesive color palettes that amplify product intent and clearly communicate story, mood, and performance goals.
- Translate high-level strategy into actionable color application across footwear lines.
- Apply color to footwear models with a balance of creativity, technical accuracy, and brand alignment.
- Own color CADs, material callouts, and final color tech packs with precision and consistency.
- Ensure designs meet functional requirements for performance-driven products, including durability, visibility, and material behavior.
- Partner closely with Footwear Design, Product Line Management, Color Materials, Engineering, and Development teams to drive alignment from concept through production.
- Present color concepts and strategies clearly and persuasively to stakeholders at all levels.
- Maintain strong vendor and material partner communication to ensure color accuracy and feasibility.
- Stay connected to sport culture, fashion, art, and global color trends, translating insights into innovative solutions.
- Monitor competitor landscape and emerging palettes to help position the brand at the forefront of the industry.
- Manage timelines and deliverables across multiple projects with strong organizational skills.
- Champion color integrity through all phases of development, including sample reviews, lab dips, and production rounds.
- Leverage digital tools, libraries, and color management systems to maintain standards and efficiency.
Requirements
- Strong portfolio demonstrating color strategy, storytelling, and a refined understanding of how color impacts product performance and consumer perception.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and digital rendering tools; experience with 3D color application a plus.
- Deep understanding of materials, finishes, and how color interacts with different textiles, synthetics, and performance materials.
- Ability to balance creative vision with technical accuracy, feasibility, and brand guidelines.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills; able to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Passion for color, athletics, sport culture, and consumer trends—always curious, always looking ahead.
- Bachelor’s degree in Color Design, Industrial Design, Footwear Design, Fashion Design, or related field; or equivalent professional experience, recommended not required.
