Financial Planning and Analysis

• Support UNCF’s Accounting and Finance team in maintaining the organization’s financial health
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, audit, and donor requirements
• Assist with activities related to budgeting, grant and fund accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls

Accounting & Finance Intern

Administrative Assistant

• Functions as the office manager in charge of ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, receiving packages, checking mailbox, requesting equipment maintenance and repair, and other day-to-day operations.
• Prepares and maintains a schedule of solicitations, updates action plans, and monitors key deadlines pertaining to event and appeal execution.
• Processes and records contributions by donor and by the size of the contribution.
• Updates and manages an accurate, neat, orderly, electronic filing system from which files can be easily retrieved by all staff, updates and records on an ongoing basis.
• Checks records, forms and reports for completeness, accuracy of content, proper endorsement and conformance to policies/procedures; corrects minor discrepancies and errors independently and brings to the attention of appropriate management.
• Prepares and handles routine correspondence, including confidential matters, and treats appropriately.
• Answers the phone by the third ring and screens and directs incoming calls to appropriate personnel, preparing clear and accurate messages if not available.
• Greeting and receiving visitors and guides to appropriate areas or people.
• Coordinates appointments and assists in managing schedules and conference calls.
• Arrange meetings, prepare agendas and/or other materials, including the mailing of notices and materials; reserves and prepares facilities, and records and transcribes minutes of meetings as needed.
• Receives, opens, dates, processes and distributes incoming correspondence to department staff; coordinates outgoing mailing, receives, and processes responses as needed.
• Creates mail merges for mass mailings, types, edits, proofreads and formats documents, spreadsheets, presentations, forms, reports, policies and procedures, and administrative material with a high degree of speed and accuracy.
• Assists in maintaining donor records and tracking actions and notes for frontline fundraisers in Raisers Edge on a bi-weekly basis.
• Assists with proposal submissions, donor campaign mailings and materials, and contact lists.
• Proofreads reports, presentation materials, and business letters including labels and envelopes for grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors.
• Prepare e-mails, e-blasts, routine correspondence and periodic reports on the basis of general instructions.
• Obtains necessary signatures/approvals for outgoing communications and assures the transmittal of accurate data and information both internally and externally.
• Designs and creates new documents in accordance with requests and policies for appropriate review. To include social media posts, graphic design collateral for events, and other items needed to support frontline fundraisers.
• Suggests new procedures to improve operating efficiency.
• Maintains and updates contact files by working with Raiser Edge staff contact to ensure information is always current: preferred mailing address, email, phone, titles, company name changes, and primary contact. This is performed on a weekly basis.
• Arranges and confirms staff travel including accommodations, travel, and car rentals.
• Supports and serves as a liaison to other offices/functions as necessary; is cross-trained in other functions.
• Coordinates the donor acknowledgement process within 72 hours of gift received.
• Prepares, tracks, and troubleshoots invoices and expense reports for approval and payment.
• Participates in, prepares agendas for, and takes minutes for routine department and staff meetings.
• Performs special projects and assignments and support staff as directed by management.
• Maintains an appropriate, professional appearance, and always keeps a neat and clean working station; displays tact and a positive, courteous demeanor at all times, which is critical to successfully interacting with high profile corporations and representing the organization.
• Tailors’ communication style to the listener; conducts self in a mature, respectful and pleasant manner, and acts in accordance with all organizational policies, and federal and state regulations.

Human Resources

• Support the HR Talent team with day-to-day operations and special projects.
• Serve as a key contributor to the content development and ongoing sustainability of the UNCF HR Newsletter.
• Assist with creating and maintaining a framework for newsletter content, timelines, and distribution.
• Support the development of a communications plan for the organization-wide rollout of the HR Newsletter.
• Collaborate with HR Talent and Organizational Development teams to ensure alignment between HR communications and learning initiatives.
• Assist with LMS-related projects, including content development, editing, and organization of learning materials.
• Draft, edit, and proofread content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
• Contribute creative ideas to enhance engagement through visual, written, and multimedia content.
• Participate in meetings, brainstorming sessions, and project reviews with cross-functional teams.

HR Talent Intern

Communications

• Support UNCF’s Branding, Marketing, and Communications team in executing strategic communications and digital engagement efforts

Communications Intern

Director

• Develop new sources of unrestricted income from events, individuals and local community partners, foundations and corporations.
• Plan and implement campaign strategies consistent with UNCF national action plans and policies.
• Develop and submit solicitation proposals and design and implement special fundraising events.
• Write fundraising correspondence, letters of acknowledgment and appeals and maintain a regular schedule of in-person visits with foundations, donors and board members.
• Cultivate and steward relationships with current and potential high net-worth donors.
• Identify and recruit campaign leaders and advisory board members.
• Establish and maintain close, direct contact with local corporations, government, community, church and civic leaders to ensure top volunteer leadership.
• Establish and maintain liaison with volunteers and secure loaned executives.
• Develop and prepare campaign materials, communication and promotional programs in support of local fundraising efforts.
• Supervise and coordinate staff activities related to records management in Raiser’s Edge database, maintaining current and accurate files on all donors, and ensuring security and quality controls.
• Interface with the Accounting and Finance department to fulfill information requests and maintain reporting accuracy.
• Generate queries, reports, exports and other collection data as needed.
• Manage area office to ensure compliance with UNCF policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

Area Development Director

Chief of Staff

• Prepare high-quality briefing materials for Chief of Staff review, synthesizing complex information into actionable insights for executive decision-making.
• Attend key meetings on behalf of the Chief of Staff, ensuring clear communication of decisions and follow-through on action items.
• Coordinate materials for stakeholder engagement activities as needed to include developing talking points and presentations.
• Handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion and sound judgment.
• Maintain comprehensive visibility across UNCF’s strategic portfolio, tracking progress, dependencies, risks, and outcomes for CEO and Chief of Staff priorities.
• Develop and manage real-time dashboards that provide actionable intelligence on initiative status, emerging issues, and resource needs; Includes tracking emerging initiatives.
• Independently manage select high-priority initiatives on behalf of the Chief of Staff, ensuring accountability to timelines, outcomes, and strategic objectives.
• Proactively identify bottlenecks, dependencies, and opportunities for acceleration across the organizational portfolio.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to drive execution and issue resolution while maintaining momentum on complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives; Partner with external consultants and internal teams to advance initiatives.
