Key responsibilities & impact

Provide leadership for a team of data engineers, business intelligence analysts, and data governance professionals responsible for delivering enterprise data services across the University of Maine System.
Shape the future of our enterprise data platform by improving reliability, scalability, and governance while supporting data-informed decision-making throughout the organization.
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing technical team.
Guide the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of enterprise data engineering and analytics services.
Partner with academic and administrative leaders to understand business needs and translate them into scalable data solutions.
Oversee enterprise data pipelines, integration services, analytics platforms, and governance practices.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, and other IT leaders to advance enterprise technology initiatives.
Promote modern engineering practices, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field and seven years of progressively responsible professional experience supporting or managing enterprise data engineering, analytics platforms, or enterprise data services;
OR
Master's degree in a related field and five years of progressively responsible professional experience supporting or managing enterprise data engineering, analytics platforms, or enterprise data services.
Experience supervising technical staff or serving in a formal technical leadership role.
Experience overseeing enterprise data pipeline and ETL/ELT processes.
Experience overseeing cloud-based platforms and evaluating performance, reliability, and cost optimization.
