About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Development and optimization of innovative materials, manufacturing processes and production methods for high-performance components made from precious metals and specialty materials in the glass industry
- Independent planning, coordination and execution of development and optimization projects – from concept to successful production introduction
- Leadership of material and process development activities and technical coordination of interdisciplinary project teams
- Execution and evaluation of tests, material analyses and simulations (e.g., Ansys) to continuously improve quality, productivity and cost efficiency
- Analysis of material properties and derivation of sustainable optimization measures for existing manufacturing processes
- Ensuring compliance with quality, safety, environmental and CE requirements and implementing structured risk and change management
- Preparation of technical documentation, development reports and presentations, and presentation of results to internal stakeholders
- Technical support for production, operations and sales, and participation in investment, technology and innovation projects
- Conducting failure analyses and providing support for life-cycle management topics
- Building and maintaining an international network with customers, research institutions and project partners to advance innovative technologies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree or diploma in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Process Engineering or a comparable field
- Several years of experience in materials, process or production development and in technical project management – ideally in the glass industry or with high-performance materials
- Experience with quality methods such as FMEA, Ishikawa or Six Sigma and interest in modern, AI-supported analysis and optimization methods
- Strong analytical skills, a structured working approach and a high degree of personal responsibility
- Experience leading technical projects and interdisciplinary teams
- Good commercial understanding and a confident manner when interacting with internal and external stakeholders
- Business-fluent German and English
- Team spirit, strong communication skills and enthusiasm for innovation and technology
