About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Teach academic, technical, and business writing remotely throughout the full academic calendar year
Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed
Guide students in active collaboration and application of learning through problem- and project-based learning demonstrations
Provide rich, regular constructive feedback and use rubrics effectively to assess student work
Acknowledge student accomplishments
Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise
Help students connect concepts across their academic program
Provide feedback to the program chair on possible curricular improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master’s degree in English or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning
Professional experience in English or a related field
Successful completion of UMGC’s online two-week new faculty orientation, FacDev 122, as a condition of hire
Resume/Curriculum Vitae
Cover letter highly preferred
Candidates with international degrees may be required to submit a translation/degree evaluation from a NACES approved vendor
Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred
Terminal degree in English or a related field is preferred
