About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Teach academic, technical, and business writing remotely throughout the full academic calendar year
- Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed
- Guide students in active collaboration and application of learning through problem- and project-based learning demonstrations
- Provide rich, regular constructive feedback and use rubrics effectively to assess student work
- Acknowledge student accomplishments
- Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise
- Help students connect concepts across their academic program
- Provide feedback to the program chair on possible curricular improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree in English or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning
- Professional experience in English or a related field
- Successful completion of UMGC’s online two-week new faculty orientation, FacDev 122, as a condition of hire
- Resume/Curriculum Vitae
- Cover letter highly preferred
- Candidates with international degrees may be required to submit a translation/degree evaluation from a NACES approved vendor
- Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred
- Terminal degree in English or a related field is preferred
