About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Ask personalized questions to understand customers’ financial goals and connect them with suitable solutions
Create and manage a loan pipeline focused on prospecting and cross-selling home equity loans and lines of credit, unsecured personal loans, auto loans, and mortgage referrals
Create sales opportunities and grow UMB’s customer base through product knowledge, networking, customer conversations, business development, and proactive sourcing
Process transactions, manage a cash drawer, and complete bank documentation according to industry and legal standards
Challenge daily key performance metrics while balancing competing priorities and delivering an excellent customer experience
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma or equivalent
Two years of retail banking sales experience or other relevant experience
Reliable transportation
Ability to work branch hours, including weekends and some evenings
Ability to obtain NMLS registration within 90 days
Ability to learn products, services, and procedures quickly and accurately
Basic math skills and ability to problem solve within established risk parameters/tolerances
Ability to make personal connections, engage and educate customers, ask open-ended questions, and listen to establish trust
Strong business development capabilities, including campaign offers, prospecting leads, service-to-sales conversations, and leveraging centers of influence for referrals
Ability to thrive in a high-energy, sales-driven team and use coaching and feedback to improve sales outcomes
Expert product knowledge and conversation skills
Compelling communication and positive image
Problem-solving ability and attention to detail
Ability to coach others as a sales mentor
College degree or military equivalent strongly preferred
Bilingual ability is a bonus
