About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Collect blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary from patients
Perform EKG, pulse oximetry, and point-of-care testing on inpatients and outpatients
Perform venipuncture and capillary phlebotomy using appropriate equipment and techniques
Review physician requisitions and orders to ensure appropriate tests are drawn and meet Medical Necessity guidelines
Prepare Advance Beneficiary Notices for tests that do not meet Medical Necessity guidelines and obtain required signatures
Perform associated quality control and instrumentation maintenance
Process specimens through centrifugation, pour-off, aliquoting, labeling, and packaging
Provide patient data and insurance information for specimen registration
Create registrations for outreach specimens in the ADT system when needed
Float across locations and campuses according to department needs

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School graduate
Successful completion of a recognized phlebotomy training program or prior documented experience performing phlebotomy
Basic life support certification required within 3 months of employment
Maintenance of annual competencies in BLS
May be required to work and travel to other locations and campuses per department needs
Ability to work 32 hours per week, including four 8-hour evening shifts, every other holiday, and every other weekend
