About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform general maintenance work including plumbing, heating, carpentry, and electrical work across UMass Memorial Medical Center campuses
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on medical, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, fire alarm, pneumatic tube, laundry, and other equipment and systems
Replace light bulbs and related items
Assist with fire alarm system shutdown, generator and electric testing
Assist with major equipment repairs and installations
Fabricate minor repair parts and components
Troubleshoot, evaluate, and identify mechanical, plumbing, and electrical system problems
Perform sheet metal cutting, welding, and soldering as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need

Ability to read, write, calculate, and follow instructions and procedures
Knowledge of basic plumbing, heating, electrical, and mechanical techniques and repair principles
Ability to work from specifications, schedules, and general instructions requiring interpretation
Basic computer skills
Ability to read and write English
Ability to use a computerized maintenance work order system with minimal training within 60 days of employment
One to three years of experience
Trade school completion preferred
Employees must be at least 18 years of age
