About the role
- Acts as a discipline engineer or overall project engineer planning, scheduling, conducting and/or coordinating detailed phases of assigned project work.
- Makes design recommendations, adaptations and modifications for foundation design, structural steel design.
- Performs calculations using engineering formulas and skills and completes own design work.
- Develops plans, specifications, and observation reports to see that these items are complete, accurate and in accordance with sound engineering practice.
- Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality.
- Works closely with engineering technicians and experienced engineers.
- May work in the office or in the field.
- Checks design computations done by others.
- Prepares reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects.
- May participate in marketing, sales and business development activities within assigned market.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent required.
- Professional Structural Engineer (SE) registration required.
- Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of electrical utility substation layout and design preferred.
- Understanding of structural steel, drilled pier & spread footing design and detailing required.
- Experience using MathCAD, STAAD or equivalent, foundation design programs, and/or other structural modeling software preferred.
- Knowledge of AISC, and ACI required, ASCE & NESC preferred.
- Basic understanding of AutoCADD and/or MicroStation preferred.
- Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Must have authorization to work permanently in the US.
