About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop high-quality written content including speeches, executive communications, donor communications, speaking notes, and presentations.
  • Serve as a primary writer for senior leaders, translating their ideas into compelling communications.
  • Research, interview subject matter experts, and synthesize complex information into audience-focused content.
  • Support organizational initiatives, fundraising efforts, advocacy priorities, and community engagement through strategic communications.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Communications, Marketing, Fundraising, and Events.
  • Ensure consistency with organizational messaging, voice, and brand standards.
  • Edit and refine content to ensure quality and effectiveness.
  • Monitor emerging issues, trends, and community conversations that may impact communications priorities.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Postsecondary education in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, English, Political Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in communications, journalism, public affairs, executive communications, speechwriting, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, interviewing, and storytelling skills.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior leaders through written communications.
  • Strong ability to understand complex topics and communicate them effectively.
  • Excellent editorial judgment, attention to detail, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver polished work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong awareness of current events and communications trends.
  • Experience developing executive communications or stakeholder-facing materials is considered an asset.
