About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as lead legal counsel on assumed and ceded reinsurance matters
Draft, review, analyze, interpret, and negotiate treaty and retrocession contracts
Advise on contract wording, allocation issues, coverage intent
Partner with underwriting, claims, finance, and executive leadership
Conduct legal research and monitor developments in reinsurance law
Develop internal policies, playbooks, templates, and training materials
Build strong relationships with brokers, reinsurers, and industry groups
Leverage technology and process improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Admission to at least one U.S. state bar
Extensive experience (5+ years) practicing law in reinsurance or insurance
Experience with assumed and ceded reinsurance transactions
Strong knowledge of insurance and reinsurance legal principles
