About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee and drive strategic initiatives that enhance and optimize underwriting operations
- Lead cross-functional teams to improve product and underwriting processes
- Collaborate with Underwriting, Finance, Legal, Compliance, IT, and business areas
- Identify training needs through evaluation of underwriting QA results
- Design, document and centralize efficient procedures and workflows across underwriting roles
- Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners
- Oversee hiring, training, onboarding, and development of team members.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree (Required) in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Economics, or related field
- Master’s degree (Preferred): An MBA or a related advanced degree
- Professional certifications: (Preferred) CPCU, AIAF, or similar
- Project Management Certifications (e.g. PMP) may be beneficial
- At least 10 years of Underwriting experience with a solid understanding of the underwriting process
- Proven experience in leading and managing teams, particularly in underwriting or operations
- Experience in process optimization, business operations, and implementing technology solutions
- Ability to think strategically and execute plans that drive underwriting performance,
- Understanding of the latest trends in the underwriting industry, especially technology; AI and automation knowledge is important
- Experience working cross-departmentally with IT, compliance, risk management, sales, and claims.
