About the role
- Write user-facing product copy across web and native apps, from buttons and error messages to onboarding flows and in-product education
- Be embedded in projects across Udemy's global UX organization to create clear, effective product copy
- Shape voice and tone standards, UX storytelling guidance, and content best practices
- Collaborate closely with product designers, researchers, engineers, and localization teams to ensure content is clear, consistent, and easy to translate
- Balance product and brand voice to align copy with user needs and company identity
- Apply accessibility and usability best practices to ensure inclusivity and compliance with global standards
- Contribute to content standards and guidelines that scale across teams and document patterns in the design system
- Advocate for content design across the organization and demonstrate the impact of user-centered language
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in content design, UX writing, or product copywriting
- A strong portfolio of user-facing copy demonstrating clarity, empathy, and craft
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and experience applying them in digital product contexts
- Skilled in UX storytelling—able to simplify complex ideas and guide users through tasks
- Comfortable collaborating in multidisciplinary, global teams and working with localization partners
- Experience supporting content across multilingual or international platforms
- Familiarity with design systems and content governance
- Experience leveraging design systems and content standards to reduce the cost of shipping products across platforms
- Ability to mentor and influence peers
- Proactive, flexible, and able to balance hands-on writing with higher-level system contributions
