About the role

  • Lead a team of engineers within the Product Platform portfolio focused on enabling application teams to build secure, compliant, and operationally efficient products
  • Invest in and evolve identity, privacy, anti-fraud, and internal tooling solutions to improve operational efficiency
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and minimize exposure risk to meet enterprise-grade expectations for B2B clients
  • Build foundational product platform capabilities to support Udemy Business as an AI-powered upskilling solution
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (product, design, data science, product marketing) to build a roadmap, deliver features, manage execution, and identify development areas
  • Grow the team and their careers, track performance via 1-on-1s and annual reviews, and mentor engineers
  • Work with senior management to strategize resource allocation and prioritize execution
  • Delegate to technical leads, remove blockers, incorporate feedback, and continuously improve team execution
  • Extend networking within and beyond the organization and maintain key relationships

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience managing software engineers with a focus on constant flow of feedback and career development
  • Experience defining strategy, roadmaps and prioritising work in close collaboration with Product and Design counterparts
  • Proven track record of timely and high quality product delivery
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative environment involving product managers, design and stakeholders
  • Experience designing scalable systems with an emphasis on microservices and event-driven architecture
  • Experience designing scalable, secure and performant APIs (REST, GraphQL)
  • Experience with web application development technologies such as HTTP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Technical depth in Kotlin/Java, distributed systems, data pipelines, and cloud-native infrastructure
  • Ability to guide, coach and motivate engineers and run 1-on-1s and annual performance reviews
  • Systems thinking, analytical problem solving, decision making, and active listening
