About the role

  • Communicate with customers and end users to gather feedback (interviews, walkthroughs, surveys), synthesize insights, and iterate on design concepts to improve usability and clarity.
  • Create low/high-fidelity wireframes and visual mockups; prepare and deliver demo-ready design walk-throughs to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Convert approved designs into clean, maintainable CSS/SCSS within the application; partner with developers to align styling, components, and accessibility standards across HTML, JavaScript, and React.
  • Review and update Git/GitLab issues to ensure clarity, accurate status, labels, acceptance criteria, and links to design artifacts and documentation.
  • Attend project and team meetings (standups, planning, reviews, retros) and contribute to delivery commitments.
  • Participate in developer discussions (architecture, components, theming, design tokens), provide UI/UX input, and help document decisions.

Requirements

  • Professional UI/UX design experience building web application interfaces.
  • Experience demonstrating user-centered design process (research → ideation → iteration → validation) and shipped product work.
  • Proficiency in Figma and modern front-end implementation (CSS/SCSS, component-based UI in React).
  • Experience demoing design work, gathering feedback, and translating it into action.
  • Working knowledge of Git/GitLab workflows (issues, merge requests, code review, CI basics).
  • Strong communication skills and comfort presenting to customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in regulated or mission-critical environments (government, defense, healthcare, finance) (Preferred).
  • Designing and implementing design systems (tokens, components, theming) in React (Preferred).
  • Comfort with light JavaScript to wire up interactive prototypes and validate UI behavior (Preferred).
  • BS/BA degree and minimum of 5 years related experience required. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance. Active Secret clearance desired, interim Secret acceptable to start. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
