About the role
- Develops multi-platform converged enterprise engineering solutions related to databases to meet business and infrastructure service needs
- Deploy and administer NoSQL and RDBMS databases on-prem and in cloud environments
- Operate and keep distributed databases up and running for different applications across the organization
- Implement Infrastructure as Code and automation (Ansible, Terraform) to deploy databases and manage configurations
- Automate routine tasks using Python to reduce manual effort
- Manage database installation, security, risk, audit, monitoring, access control, backup/restore, patching, and vulnerability management
- Deploy databases using Azure/AWS database services and other native cloud services
- Deploy containerized databases in Kubernetes clusters
- Collaborate with a team of NoSQL and RDBMS DBAs and document processes and runbooks
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- At least 8 years experience with tools, facilities and techniques for managing and administering data
- Hands-on experience administering NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Couchbase)
- Hands-on experience administering RDBMS (PostgreSQL, DB2, Sybase)
- Experience with database install, security, risk, audit, monitoring, access control, backup/restore, patching, vulnerability management
- Experience using automation tools such as Ansible
- Experience with Linux based systems
- Strong knowledge of Cloud infrastructure (Network, IAM, IaaS, PaaS)
- Strong experience with DevOps methodology and tooling (Git, VSCode)
- Extensive experience deploying databases using Terraform
- Extensive experience with Azure (PaaS – RDBMS and NoSQL) and AWS Database Services (RDBMS – RDS and NoSQL)
- Experience in programming language, specifically Python
- Experience working in cloud in any one of the providers - Azure, AWS or GCP
- Knowledge of deploying containerized databases in Kubernetes Cluster (nice to have)
- Cloud certification is a plus
