About the role
- Assist customers inside and outside a U-Haul center with U-Haul products and services
- Inspect and maintain equipment; clean lot and check fluid levels
- Use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory
- Move and hook up U-Haul trucks and trailers; install hitches and trailer wiring
- Prepare rental invoices and accept equipment returned from rental
- Fill propane and drive a forklift (certification offered through U-Haul upon employment)
- Answer questions and educate customers regarding products and services
- Dispatch and return equipment using up-to-date technology
- Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors and position oneself to reach objects at varying heights
- May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields
- Must meet U-Haul’s nicotine-free hiring policy in certain states (U-Haul will decline to hire nicotine users in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington)
- Able to operate or become certified to operate equipment (propane filling, forklift) - certifications offered upon employment
