About the role

  • Support the mechanical design of transit stations, tunnels, and maintenance facilities, including HVAC and tunnel ventilation systems
  • Assist in preparing contract drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Perform engineering calculations and system modeling under guidance from senior engineers
  • Help ensure designs comply with NFPA, ASHRAE, NYC building codes, and other relevant standards
  • Collaborate with architects, structural, and electrical engineers to understand integrated design solutions
  • Participate in design reviews, QA/QC processes, and learn best practices in mechanical engineering design for transit

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • EIT certification required; PE licensure a future goal
  • 0–5 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally with HVAC or ventilation systems in buildings or transit facilities
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and relevant codes (NFPA, ASHRAE, NYC building codes)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills
  • Enthusiasm for learning, professional growth, and working in a collaborative team environment
