About the role
- Serve as the technical lead for transit and rail communications systems, providing direction, oversight, and quality assurance across all phases of design and delivery.
- Lead development of complex Operations Technology (OT) networks and communications systems
- Develop and review contract drawings, technical specifications, and construction-phase deliverables, ensuring clarity, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
- Lead design reviews, evaluate technical criteria, and contribute to scopes of work, specifications, and standard drawings.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning, curiosity, and technical rigor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field (required)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one (strongly preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive experience in rail/transit communications, systems engineering, or electrical design
- Deep technical knowledge of communications networks, OT systems, devices, and network security, with experience in MTA, Amtrak, or regional transit systems preferred
- Proficiency with design tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar platforms
