About the role

  • Lead and develop detailed structural designs of rail and transit facilities, line structure component repairs, ensuring compliance with the latest industry codes and client standards
  • Prepare design calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications for stations, maintenance facilities, elevated guideways, and other transit structures
  • Conduct structural analysis and develop design solutions that enhance safety, durability, and constructability
  • Work closely within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and in close coordination contractors, to integrate structural designs into overall project requirements
  • Perform structural inspections, field assessments and condition evaluations for transit-related projects
  • Ensure designs meet the requirements of MTA, Amtrak, NJ Transit, and other regional transit agencies
  • Support project management activities, including budget tracking, scheduling, and client coordination
  • Regularly engage with clients to present design options, progress reports, and technical solutions
  • Collect and incorporate client feedback into project deliverables to ensure final designs meet or exceed client requirements and expectations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in structural engineering with a focus on rail and transit projects
  • Strong knowledge of steel, concrete, and masonry design
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as AREMA, AASHTO, NYC/NYS Building Code, and MTA design guidelines
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE or similar) and CAD/BIM tools (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in NY (or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe)
  • Experience on MTA C&D/NYCT Projects is required
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
