About the role

  • Two Six Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Backend Developer to actively participate in the design, build, test, implementation, and sustainment phases of a sensor data aggregation product. In this role, you will join a research and product development team and will be responsible for building and maintaining relevant applications, services, APIs, and user-interfaces related to cloud-hosted data management platforms. The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-starter that has a passion for learning, and has a history of working very closely with data. This is a full time, remote position.
  • What you will do:
  • Leverage experience with the principles of large-scale (terabytes) database development, data modeling, data mapping, data testing, data quality, and technical data GUI UI/UX
  • Utilization of open source libraries to extract, transform, and load (ETL) complex datasets
  • Design and develop related web-based user-interfaces
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms
  • Work directly with users in the field to implement new features and debug issues
  • Provide technical/functional guidance, and support to other team members
  • Work closely with product owners and managers to develop engineering roadmaps
  • Develop and support features on both the backend and frontend

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of software engineering experience or comparable education and relevant experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with Python, Java, Javascript
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in building and maintaining ETL workflows and data pipelines
  • Experience with AWS (S3) or similar cloud-based infrastructure
  • Experience working with data in relational databases
  • Experience with full-stack development, including but not limited to working with APIs, javascript frameworks, and relational databases, with focus on backend development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
