About the role
- Responsible for, and technical expertise in, ensuring that the company’s quality management system, procedures, inspection, test, and work processes are in compliance with AAR, FRA, TTX and associated industry-related standards (ISO), regulations and requirements.
- Additional primary responsibilities include the performance of dynamic process audits at DRACO to ensure company practices and work performed complies with pre-defined standards, regulations and requirements.
- Provide detailed assessment reports to associated parties for the identification of follow-on continual improvement initiatives and activities.
- Lead problem investigation, critical-to-quality product, and process improvement activities.
- The majority of the assigned tasks require the individual to work in an independent and collaborative nature.
- Moderate travel is required and therefore is a candidate for working out of home office for the balance of the work time (if candidate is based outside of DRACO area).
Requirements
- Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- Self-motivated, with demonstrated ability to manage a diverse workload with minimal direct supervision.
- Minimum twelve (12) years of credentials in railroad quality control and/or quality assurance activities and the ability to perform process and product audits in accordance with TTX procedures at:
- - Repair and field maintenance shop operations
- - Supplier selection, evaluation and 1st article activities.
- Strong ability to communicate and interface with shop management, supervision, and other associated personnel to obtain an accurate situational assessment.
- Requires the ability to climb in and under railcars in an industrial and/or railroad environment.
- A valid driver\'s license is required.
- Requires the ability to obtain a TWIC card and eRailsafe Badge for access to ports and various railroad locations around the country.
- Position requires specific knowledge of automobile and truck frames, dynamics of railroad transport, and metal fabrication methods.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Proficient in computer software applications, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
