About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of commercial air conditioning and multi-zone heating and cooling systems
  • Perform mechanical maintenance, inspection, repair, installation, alteration, preventive maintenance, and routine servicing of plant HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Develop HVAC system modification plans and help plan modification jobs
  • Create preventive maintenance checklists for new equipment
  • Interpret as-built building blueprints and recommend remodel-project system modifications in accordance with applicable regulations
  • Research and select materials for HVAC installation, repair, and maintenance
  • Maintain equipment and supplies and promote workplace safety and environmental improvements
  • Document and track preventive maintenance activities
  • Inspect and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment to optimize performance
  • Represent the company to contractors, owners, and trades
  • Report preventive maintenance inspections to supervisors and recommend corrective actions
  • Complete and submit maintenance paperwork
  • Perform other maintenance duties assigned by the Maintenance Lead or manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Knowledge of HVAC installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
  • Ability to develop HVAC system modification plans
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, building materials, and emergency maintenance
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems incorporating digital control systems and multi-building computer-based EMCS
  • Mechanical and electrical inspection and maintenance skills
  • Preventive maintenance skills, including oiling, belt adjustment, cleaning, and greasing
  • Ability to diagnose equipment and determine repair or maintenance needs
  • Ability to maintain work records and submit paperwork timely
  • Great mechanical aptitude
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and residential air conditioning and heating equipment, operating principles, and HVAC safety practices
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks independently
  • Current EPA Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification preferred
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of trades experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities
  • Formal HVAC training through an academic program or apprenticeship
  • Minimum age of 21, or 18 in CT, PA, and WV
  • Eligible to work in the US
  • Ability to pass a background screening
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, move, or carry at least 100 lbs. as specified
  • Ability to work extended periods seated or standing and perform climbing, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
  • Ability to wear PPE and work in hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions
  • Required visual acuity and verbal communication ability
