About the role
- Lead and manage all phases of H&H modeling projects, including developing project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation
- Provide expert technical guidance and perform comprehensive quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) for H&H modeling efforts and design deliverables
- Oversee the development and application of hydrologic and hydraulic models using industry-standard software such as SWMM (2D SWMM experience preferred), HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), and HEC-HMS for stormwater, riverine, and watershed analyses
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and regulatory agencies, leading meetings, presenting findings, and ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to technical staff, fostering their professional growth and development within the team
- Ensure project deliverables adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines, including FEMA floodplain management and Virginia Dam Safety requirements and GKY SOPs
- Contribute to proposal development by defining technical scopes, estimating efforts, and participating in strategic client relationship management
- Lead the preparation of comprehensive technical reports, engineering designs, specifications, and other critical project documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Management, or a closely related field (Master's degree highly desirable)
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive professional experience in water resources engineering with a significant focus on hydrology and hydraulics modeling and project management
- Professional Engineer (PE) License is REQUIRED
- Demonstrated expertise in SWMM (2D SWMM experience preferred), HEC-RAS (including 2D modeling), and HEC-HMS
- Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro for spatial analysis and data visualization
- Strong understanding of FEMA floodplain management guidelines and processes
- Familiarity with Virginia Dam Safety requirements and/or O&M certification concepts (preferred)
- Proven leadership and project management capabilities, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget (preferred)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (preferred)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and thrive in a collaborative team environment (preferred)
