About the role
- Lead user research activities—including interviews and usability tests—to extract actionable insights and validate design directions
- Design intuitive, accessible user interfaces and workflows that adhere to WCAG 2.1 AA and internal brand standards
- Develop low- and high‑fidelity wireframes, interactive prototypes, and polished mockups using industry-standard tools (Figma, Mac required)
- Collaborate closely with product owners, developers, and Agile teams to iterate designs and incorporate real-time feedback
- Present design concepts, rationale, and documentation to stakeholders during design reviews and sprint meetings
- Conduct 8–10 user interviews and 2–3 usability testing sessions per sprint to refine design assumptions
- Produce more than 20 new or optimized screens per iteration, ensuring accessibility, brand alignment, and clear user flows
- Audit existing interfaces for consistency, accessibility, and inclusive design—providing documented recommendations
- Deliver annotated design specifications and prototypes for seamless developer handoff
- Contribute to documentation including style guides, component libraries, and knowledge transfer materials
Requirements
- At least 5 years of UX design experience on web-based applications
- Minimum 4 years designing accessible interfaces following WCAG 2.1 AA
- 5+ years creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes
- 3+ years of experience in information architecture and UX structure
- 2+ years designing within Agile environments
- Experience conducting user interviews, usability testing, and persona or journey development
- Ability to present design concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Familiarity with responsive design, digital branding, universal design principles, and data-driven decision making
- Bachelor’s degree in UX, HCI, Graphic Design, or similar is a plus
- Expertise in mobile UI/UX—ticketing, payment systems, or public transit apps is a plus
- Experience with transit fare structures, ticket vending machines, or validation devices is a plus
- Understanding of front-end technology such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or Blazor is a plus
- UX certifications, accessibility training, or Agile credentials is a plus
- Project coordination or time‑management experience supporting multiple workstreams is a plus
- Empathy-driven design mindset with strong creative problem‑solving skills
