About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform telephone triage for patients
Triage and submit medication prior authorization requests
Screen calls and schedule appointments
Review and update medication lists in the electronic medical record
Complete referrals and track patient compliance
Review electronic prescriptions and send them to providers for review and submission
Obtain patient consent for procedures as directed by the provider
Perform pre-visit planning and review quality metrics
Retrieve telephonic clinical information from patients
Monitor the task list and complete provider-assigned tasks according to urgency
Educate patients about medications, testing procedures, and home care techniques
Ensure proper labeling, handling, and documentation of patient specimens
Follow up with patients regarding test results based on provider instructions
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including disinfecting patient care areas and equipment
Maintain the medical supply cabinet and drug cabinet with nursing colleagues
Use the electronic medical record for communication
Perform assigned quality assurance duties
Provide clinical visit summaries and educational materials as requested
Participate in daily Patient Care huddles as appropriate
Work cooperatively with colleagues to ensure quality patient care
Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years RN experience required
6 months previous RN experience
Current unencumbered NYS RN license
Basic Life Support certification
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred
Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
