About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Triage and submit medication prior authorization requests
- Screen calls and schedule appointments accordingly
- Review and update medication lists in the electronic medical record
- Complete referrals and track patient compliance
- Review prescriptions electronically and send them to providers for review and submission
- Obtain patient consent for procedures as directed by providers
- Perform pre-visit planning and review quality metrics
- Retrieve telephonic clinical information from patients calling the office
- Monitor provider task lists and complete assigned tasks based on urgency
- Educate patients about medications, testing procedures, and home-care techniques
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and documentation of patient specimens
- Follow up with patients regarding test results based on provider advice
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including disinfecting patient-care areas and equipment
- Maintain medical and drug cabinets with nursing colleagues
- Use the electronic medical record for communication
- Perform assigned quality-assurance duties
- Provide clinical visit summaries and educational materials as requested
- Participate in daily Patient Care huddles as appropriate
- Work cooperatively with colleagues to ensure quality patient care
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Current, unencumbered New York State RN license
- Basic Life Support certification
- At least 6 months of previous RN experience
- Ability to lift 20 lbs.
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Ability to perform telephone triage and clinical assessment
- Must work day shift
