About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Performs day-to-day correspondence activities within the Hospital and/or Medical Group revenue operations ($3-5B NPR) of a Patient Business Services (PBS) location.
- Sorts and distributes incoming correspondence, performs address updates, and scans documents into the document imaging system.
- Collects, organizes and scans patient and insurance correspondence, insurance vouchers/explanation of benefits and other relevant documentation.
- Conducts appropriate indexing with PNC Correspondence into correct folders.
- Sorts and date-stamps all incoming correspondence, distributing correspondence to appropriate resources in a timely, accurate manner.
- Reviews all returned mail, researches and corrects the information in the patient accounting system as appropriate.
- Assists in large copy and mail productions.
- Provides support for the Billing & Follow-Up teams by printing UB04’s and sending medical records by Certified Mail.
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma
- Minimum of one (1) year work experience within a hospital or clinic environment, an insurance company, managed care organization or other financial service setting, performing mailroom and document imaging functions or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Data entry skills (50-60 keystrokes per minutes).
- Excellent communication (verbal and writing) and organizational abilities.
- Interpersonal skills are necessary in dealing with internal and external customers.
- Accuracy, attentiveness to detail and time management skills.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
