About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Hybrid position - the RD works closely with the interdisciplinary health care team to provide nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy
  • Conducts a nutrition assessment for patients at nutritional risk
  • Obtains timely and appropriate data and analyses/interprets data based on evidence-based standards
  • Maintains productivity standards and practices effective time management and prioritizing of tasks
  • Assists in development of new/existing programs and services
  • Maintains dietetic registration, state credentialing, and continuing education requirements
  • Assists in developing and revising patient education materials, clinical forms, and protocols and practice standards
  • Assists in achieving compliance with TJC standards and other regulatory agency standards
  • Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree: Dietetics or related field
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association within 6 months of hire and licensed by Iowa State Department of Health
  • Mandatory Reporter
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form to patients, public, medical staff and physicians
  • Ability to function independently on assigned patient care units.
  • General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing and spreadsheet software.
