About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepares and performs a complete range of non-invasive diagnostic ultrasound tests
  • Assists the Radiologist in invasive procedures
  • Transports patients to and from testing areas as requested
  • Shares 24-hour call coverage with all diagnostic sonographers
  • Follows proper procedures in scheduling invasive procedures
  • Reviews patient’s chart for assessment data and clarification of orders
  • Prepares data sheets with patient history and technical interpretation for Radiologist
  • Consults Radiologist of any abnormal findings
  • Notifies ordering physician immediately per Radiologist request
  • Performs primary equipment maintenance to ensure proper operation and continuity of patient service
  • Follows guidelines/policies regarding cleaning equipment and keeping rooms clean
  • Suggests ways to continually improve quality, productivity, costs and work processes
  • Demonstrates proficiency with timeliness of charge entry and selection of correct charges for services provided
