Implements the evaluation and treatment of medically disabled patients using established procedures
Provides education to patients and family to deal with present disabilities or prevent further disabilities
Provides consultation to health care personnel and public in matters of occupational therapy
Evaluates patients’ physical and functional status as related to medical diagnosis
Administers tests reflective of current standards of practice including sensory, manual muscle, range of motion, and other evaluation techniques
Establishes short and long term therapy goals and formulates treatment plans consistent with goals
Delivers treatments such as therapeutic exercise, activities of daily living, functional training and application of modalities
Delegates care appropriately to assistive staff based on state practice act
Completes daily documentation and accurately completes charges for therapy services on day of service
Regularly documents patient’s progress and provides updates to physicians and treatment team
Maintains confidentiality and behaves in accordance with Mission, Vision and Values of Trinity Health System
Participates in professional development, in-service presentations, community activities, committees, and clinical instruction as requested by leadership
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
Certification by American Occupational Therapy Certification Board as an Occupational Therapist, Registered
Current Michigan registration as an Occupational Therapist
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and occupational therapy treatment and modalities
Ability to administer sensory, manual muscle, range of motion and other evaluation techniques
Ability to establish short and long term therapy goals and formulate treatment plans
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 80% of work time
Able to walk and stand up for up to 50% of work time
Able to lift, push and pull weights approximately 40-60 pounds for up to 20% of work time
Interpersonal and communication skills to work with patients, families and health care personnel
