About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and oversee delivery of Risk Control services to assigned accounts country-wide
- Market and sell Risk Control services in new business presentations and to existing clients
- Manage account budgets while responding to customer needs
- Understand exposures and controls by class of business and communicate information to underwriting
- Maintain a consistent field presence, spending approximately 20%–50% of the time onsite with customers
- Travel to customers, including possible long-distance, overnight, and multi-night trips
- Consult with clients on hazard identification, control evaluation, and Risk Control service delivery strategies
- Analyze losses, identify trends, and ensure plans address loss leaders using appropriate resources
- Negotiate and manage client expectations to balance service and cost
- Influence clients to commit to service plans and implement recommendations
- Build and maintain relationships with underwriting, brokers, claims, and Risk Control service teams
- Write technically detailed reports assessing risk and articulating recommendations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Five years of experience in safety, risk control/management, or a related field
- Experience may be in occupational/environmental health and safety, science, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or relevant military experience
- Valid driver's license
- Must have or be able to attain appropriate certification to meet state-specific requirements, where applicable
- Insurance industry knowledge
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Technical aptitude and attention to detail
- Superior written, verbal, and listening communication skills
- Ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport with a client
- Experience working in a collaborative environment
- Critical thinking skills
