About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business
- Lead a small team of Account Executives
- Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability
- Build relationships with internal partners to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities
- Meet regularly in person with agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products
- Travel to agent and broker meetings
- Identify and capture new business opportunities through consultative marketing and sales
- Develop and execute agency sales plans
- Partner with the Managing Director to develop region/group sales plans
- Coach, train, and manage the performance of the assigned team
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree
- Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience with commercial lines experience
- Deep knowledge of commercial lines products, regulatory environment, and local insurance market
- Strong critical thinking skills for identifying underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges
- Ability to analyze information and make timely decisions aligned with the company’s risk appetite
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to negotiate successfully in difficult situations with agents and brokers
- Four years of underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial, sales, product, or finance experience
- Experience leading others is a plus
- CPCU designation
