About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to expand and manage a portfolio of business
- Drive profitable growth within assigned agency assignments and territories
- Own assigned territory, including business development, annual planning, and territorial performance management
- Conduct agency diagnostics to assess performance and identify growth opportunities
- Facilitate agency appointments and build long-term relationships through in-person and virtual office visits
- Prospect, onboard, and set performance goals for new agencies
- Provide training and support to agency partners
- Pre-qualify accounts as needed
- Influence agency partners through communication and negotiation
- Collaborate with Product and Underwriting teams to align sales strategies with business objectives
- Cross-sell Travelers products with business partners across other lines
- Identify potential book transfer opportunities
- Develop knowledge of competitor products, capabilities, and local market trends
- Use data, analytics, Travelers systems, and platforms to support sales decisions and performance measurement
- Leverage AI technologies to optimize processes, enhance decision-making, and drive innovation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, business, or a related field
- Four or more years of insurance sales or related experience managing a book of business, driving significant sales growth, achieving sales targets, conducting agency diagnostics, and using digital sales tools
- Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) certification or willingness to pursue
- Strong knowledge of Travelers products and the Property & Casualty marketplace
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to define goals and priorities and meet them in a timely manner
- Exceptional organizational skills
- At least three years of professional experience in sales, sales support, or a relevant insurance field
- Must live in the territory managed
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
