About the role
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of engineering support, installation and/or operations of infrastructure technologies.
- Plans at a tactical level and manages the effective use of technology resources for assigned projects and functions.
- May direct assigned project staff to design, develop and/or implement large, complex technology solutions supporting one or more business and/or technology area.
- Develops and implements appropriate solutions that may involve multiple platforms, databases, software/hardware technologies and tools.
- Facilitates and/or participates in the design and development of database systems.
- Drives the execution of departmental and corporate programs and develops tactics and operational plans aligned with strategic objectives.
- Leverages infrastructure technology to develop and/or redesign technology solutions; builds and maintains alliances across technical and business communities.
- Interacts with customers to achieve efficient, effective results and consults across service delivery organizations (SDOs).
- Multi-tasks and prioritizes work according to business priorities and production availability requirements.
- Acts as a technical expert within the service delivery organization and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or its equivalent in work experience, plus five years of experience in Technology required; alternatively, a Master's degree in CS or a related field and three years of work experience in Technology.
- Seven years of experience in Technology preferred.
- Two years of experience as a technical lead preferred.
- Five years or more of IBM MQ and IBM DataPower product engineering role.
- One year of programming experience.
- Proven track records of leading complex technical projects with IBM MQ v9.x and IBM DataPower v10.x products in an engineering role, not operation.
- Advanced expertise in Linux shell scripting language (e.g. BASH).
- Advanced experience in Windows and Linux operating system administrations.
- In-depth experience with network layers (e.g. TCP, TLS) and messaging protocols (i.e. MQ and AMQP).
- Proficient with software orchestration tool, such as Puppet, including writing job scripts.
- Working knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages: Java, .NET (C# or VB.NET), or C/C++.
- Experienced with Public Cloud solutions, especially Amazon AWS.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) deployments.
- Familiarity with a container technology such as Kubernetes.
- Advanced knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as Network, Database, Server, Storage etc. preferred.
- Expert knowledge of one or more of the following technical skills: Foundational IT Infrastructure Operating Systems Software.
- Knowledge of process discipline and IDLC methodology.
