About the role
- Travelers Data Integration teams provide scalable platform for constructing self-serve data pipelines that contextualize and provide easy access to data by the entire enterprise
- Ensure Travelers has the necessary data to grow and transform our analytic landscape; design, build and deploy data solutions that capture, ingest, explore, transform, and utilize data to support AI, ML and business intelligence/insights
- Build and operationalize complex data pipelines, correct problems, create self-serve platforms, and recommend newer features
- Design complex and scalable solutions and incorporate core data engineering competencies including data ingestion, data security and data quality
- Collaborate within and across teams to support delivery and educate end users on complex data products and engineering environment
- Perform other duties as assigned for support and enhancements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in STEM related field or equivalent
- Eight years of related experience
- Experience with building robust data pipelines and working with large-scale datasets
- Highly proficient with tools and techniques including Cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Databricks), Enterprise Data Integration Tools (e.g. Ab Initio, Glue), and programming languages
- Full understanding of modern software engineering practices
- Passion for continuous improvement, automation, optimization and delivering high-quality data solutions
- Ability to deliver work at a steady, predictable pace, release in small batches, and identify and negotiate important tradeoffs
- Demonstrated track record of domain expertise and knowledge of adjacent systems
- Strong problem solving skills and focus on building systems with longevity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members and business partners
- Ability to lead team members and create a safe environment for others to learn and grow as engineers
- Proven track record of self-motivation in identifying opportunities and tracking team efforts
- Must have: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training with data tools, techniques, and manipulation
- Must have: Four years of data engineering or equivalent experience
