About the role
- The AutoCAD Electrical Designer is responsible for creating, modifying, and documenting electrical control systems and schematics using specialized CAD software.
- Execute the creation of “smart symbols” and intelligent building blocks to automate wire numbering and cross-referencing.
- Convert and import standard product drawings into the AutoCAD Electrical environment.
- Generate and audit Bills of Materials (BOM), ensuring perfect cross-referencing between drawing component ID’s and Syspro ERP structures.
- Perform gap analysis and adjustments to ensure visibility and accuracy between engineering designs and procurement data.
- Architect and maintain a structured file environment within Autodesk Vault to facilitate the relocation and secure storage of electrical schematic packages.
- Produce drawing packages for special projects and new standard product lines, including full BOM setups in Syspro.
- Maintain “As Built” documentation and manage day-to-day edits to ensure production and manufacturing teams have the latest PDF documentation.
- Improve enclosure manufacturing drawings by detailing gland hole locations, label placement, and ID label specifics.
- Assist in updating standard product manuals and generating technical documentation for new releases.
- Elevate the success of electrical operations by maintaining a high standard for drawing tasks, providing a foundation for future automation growth.
- Enable senior engineers to pivot toward high-level automation tasks, methodology research, and improved project management.
- Assist the expanding software/automation team by understanding current structures and helping the lead developer implement team-based development procedures.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Proven experience in AutoCAD Electrical, specifically in Library/Icon Menu customization and smart symbol logic.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work in fast-paced team environments.
