About the role
- Provide network-wide field technical support and advice in track geometry and turnout maintenance with the Track Engineering team
- Lead application of predictive modelling to transform track geometry and turnout condition data into actionable maintenance insights
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineering stakeholders to ensure model outputs are practical and aligned to maintenance planning
- Guide interpretation and application of predictive insights to support early intervention strategies and continuous improvement
- Maintain compliance with engineering standards and protect integrity of track assets
- Engage teams across the business to support adoption, build understanding, and integrate data-informed decision-making into day-to-day maintenance
- Based at the Rail Operations Centre in Alexandria and contribute to shaping future rail maintenance practices
Requirements
- Qualified Civil or Mechanical Engineer or substantial equivalent Engineering experience
- Specialist knowledge of track geometry, turnout systems, and rail maintenance practices
- Experience applying engineering standards and managing technical risk in rail environments
- Experience providing specialist technical advice within a rail environment (track maintenance, construction, or renewals preferred)
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with large datasets to support predictive modelling
- Familiarity with asset management systems and engineering software
- Experience supporting or leading innovation and improvement initiatives
- Ability to engage stakeholders and frontline teams to support adoption of new tools and practices
- Ability to maintain compliance with engineering standards and ensure track asset integrity
